Takuya Ugajin "Emergence"

Kanzan Gallery
Finished

Artists

Takuya Ugajin
Ugajin, who witnessed an excavation in Asahi Village, Nagano, was inspired by the Jomon period artifacts discovered there and documented the process with a large-format film camera. Ugajin's photographs capture the emergence of artifacts from the earth, offering a fresh perspective compared to static museum displays. These images, rich with metaphorical power, explore themes of creation, destruction, and the interaction between humans and land. Recently, Ugajin has focused on archaeological motifs, including close-ups of unearthed stone tools. The exhibition will showcase 15 large prints, with all frames handcrafted by the artist.
