Takuya Yotsumoto
Kameido Art Center is pleased to announce Takuya Yotsumoto's solo exhibition “Quantization Practice”.
Takuya Yotsumoto captures trivial discomforts and overlooked moments in daily life, and with a cynical point of view, creates works in a variety of media such as paintings, drawings, sculptures, and videos.
In this exhibition, “Quantization in Practice,” Yotsumoto approaches the theme of “consumption” and “reproduction” in art with a critical mindset. By adopting the concept of “quantization” used in digital technology, the artist explores new forms of expression and consumption in the art of reproduction by digitally subdividing works of art and presenting multiple small works side by side as a single piece of art. For example, the work “DO NOT COPY,” which uses silkscreen prints, expresses irony toward reproductions and questions the scarcity value and authority of art. The exhibition also encourages visitors to reconsider the relationship between art and consumption through a system that allows anyone to easily experience and purchase artwork, and Takuya Yotsumoto's works, with their humor and deep critical messages throughout the exhibition, bring new perspectives to the viewer.
