Teruo Sekiguchi, Hitoshi Kameyama
Myanmar in Everyday Life 3 presents works by Teruo Sekiguchi and Hitoshi Kameyama, who have been photographing Myanmar for many years with different approaches. Sekiguchi visited remote villages in Myanmar and photographed their cultures and customs as a part of the "Smiles of the Earth" project. In 2013, Sekiguchi organized a festival at Zojoji Temple to introduce Myanmar's culture and traditions to Japan, and in 2017, the artist established the Myanmar Festival as an association. Kameyama, on the other hand, has photographed the people and their lives as they have changed from military rule until now when Myanmar is undergoing a fleeting process of "democratization." Recently, with the theme of the connection between Japan and Myanmar, Kameyama is documenting places such as Bleached Bones Avenue, which was invaded by Japan in World War II and became a route to defeat.
