The Et Ceteras after Conservation: Works from the Collection of the Kosetsu Museum of Art

Nakanoshima Kosetsu Museum of Art
Finished
Since its opening in 1973, the Kosetsu Museum of Art has marked 50 years of history, and since 2013 has been working hard to fulfill its mission of public access and preservation by launching a full-scale repair project for the museum's collection. Restoration is a major project that requires advanced techniques, carefully selected materials and tools, and the knowledge and enthusiasm of many people. It takes a long time to complete the repair work, using the cultural heritage status of each piece as a foothold, and seeking the best possible method to achieve it now.

This exhibition introduces approximately 30 works from the museum collection that have been repaired, along with the people, things, and work involved in their restoration. It is a valuable opportunity to learn what is being done and why? and see how the repairs are carried out to hand down the collection to the future, 100 years into the future.
