Azu, Ayuko Takahashi, Shuntaro Yoshino
Following the concept-free approach of last year's August exhibition, "The Fairest Fairs" aims to focus on each artist's work without establishing a specific theme or curatorial relationship between the pieces.

Azu, both a painter and a sculptor, explores the essence of human existence through tattooing and painting. While known for decorative portrait works featuring indistinct faces and gazes, reflecting human relationships, he has recently expanded into drawing works that depict the traces born from the relationship between an artist's living space and the body. In contrast to painting, where only the surface layers of applied paint are visible, drawing reveals the entire process, reflecting the artwork's surroundings. This shift from portable tableau in painting to the tangible bond between a tattoo and its owner challenges the conventional view of artworks as mere subjects for appreciation, study, or investment, presenting them as entities to coexist with.

Ayuko Takahashi, focusing on Luchism, has created various works based on phenomena related to beauty and fashion. In her solo exhibition at TAV Gallery last October, she explored the concept of "Hanging System" from Hermès, using scarves as a subtype of painting. Hanging them like mandalas, she expressed an attachment to beauty. In the recent two-person exhibition "Contraction and Peeling" with Aoi Arai at Hiro Okamoto, she gained attention with works using old clocks and embroidery hoops, emphasizing "female relationships" as a concept. This time, she will present painting works depicting the endless desire for jewelry and fashion. The indulgence in ornaments is both enjoyable and painful, and Takahashi, a painter by trade, expresses the "depth of karma" in this realm.

Shuntaro Yoshino, specializing in sculpture, views sculpture as something "manipulated," drawing inspiration from puppetry and magic. He has created works using the exhibition pedestal as a motif, treating it as a "stage." In the performance "Helping Hands" conducted in July this year, Yoshino himself dressed as an exhibition pedestal, exposing his hands as sculptures, walked through the city, and questioned the conditions for sculpture to exist outside conventional exhibition spaces. In this exhibition, he will present works that extend the pedestal he performed into acrylic stands. By adopting the format of "Axsta," which is both a contemporary pedestal and a portable doll with no sides but many- simultaneously in parentheses- he raises questions about the autonomy of sculpture.
