Woodcraft making the most of the material itself. The craftsmen use traditional techniques to elevate the natural beauty of wood, such as its vitality, weight, and grain, into their works. The Tonami region, blessed with rich nature and abundant high-quality timber, has a thriving woodcraft tradition, including Shōgawa turnery. This exhibition features the works of three Tonami-based woodcraft artists who are active in the world of traditional crafts: Kanji Araki, Tetsuzo Hayashi, and Masayuki Yonemichi.
