Tomo Sakurai
Tomo Sakurai simplifies concepts and interpretations by rendering them in monochrome, expressing them in black and white where the contrast of light and shadow, as well as texture, is most beautifully felt. He creates artworks that evoke acceptance of both extremes and the concept of the "golden mean," or "mesotes."

This exhibition, themed "Observations of Behavior," aims to extend a portion of contemporary physics using informal monochrome expression, ultimately exploring the essence of time and, by extension, the essence of all things, thus reconstructing the human perception of reality.

Throughout history, art has always exhibited a strong correlation with philosophy and physics, expressing concepts of time and space through various techniques. In this context, the artist focuses on the principles of quantum mechanics, such as "entanglement" and "fluctuation," which exhibit characteristics of uncertainty and coexistence of opposing elements. Drawing from a philosophical perspective, he interprets "appreciation" in his unique way and manifests it using space and canvas.

Through three sections, he challenges expression using the entire space, including flat artworks and installation pieces. In his work "Fluctuations of Time - Enclosed Space -" (2024), which marks his first attempt at such an endeavor, viewers actively engage with the artwork by illuminating it with a light they hold in the darkness, providing an experiential form of appreciation.

Furthermore, the exhibition envelops the entire space in Sakurai's worldview with musical contributions from composer Hiroshi Shimomura.
