Tomoko Ichinokawa
The Kinkan Gallery will host Tomoko Ichinokawa's photography exhibition titled "Distant Voices" from June 22 to July 15.

Ichinokawa has previously used techniques like multiple exposures and photomontage to portray distant memories and childhood fantasies. In "Distant Voices," the artist will exhibit a series of works captured using an old, deteriorating toy camera. This camera, retrieved from Ichinokawa's parents' storage, was used by Ichinokawa during neighborhood walks, gradually breaking down and transforming its function from capturing coherent images to preserving only time and light. The decaying camera now represents the essence of photography itself, reflecting fragments of time and fading memories that Ichinokawa continues to observe and capture. These fleeting yet indelible moments serve as poignant evidence of the life of the artist.

Simultaneously, the Sony Imaging Gallery will feature a solo exhibition showcasing Ichinokawa's multiple exposure works captured with digital cameras. This dual exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience Ichinokawa's artistic world expressed through both film and digital mediums.
