Tomoko Tsuda "Bone Identity"

Paku Paku An
Finished

Artists

Tomoko Tsuda
For more than 20 years, she has been making tea bowls as “vessels for use" and "beauty for use”. Tomoko Tsuda, who has continued to create works that bring life to those who use them, now presents her new work "Bones" here.

As the name suggests, it represents the "bones" and "traces" of her works. It's akin to the "remains" left behind after intentionally destroying her past creations to elevate them into something different.

Attached to it are memories of life that once existed, giving off a fleeting yet powerful impression of a substance that has lost its mass. While living in the world of tea ceremony ceramics, Tomoko Tsuda, who has also touched the world of avant-garde ceramics, offers symbolic tea bowls that speak of the expression between life and death.

This exhibition showcases a wide variety of "vessels," including the latest Raku tea bowls, Raku sake cups, goblets, and other cups, and also presents the potential of the new "Bones" series as art objects.
