Tonestones (Ryosuke Kataoka & Daigo Sakuragi)
隙間 presents an exhibition by TONESTONES, a unit composed of the Tokyo-based artist Ryosuke Kataoka and musician Daigo Sakuragi, who is also active as part of D.A.N.
TONESTONES is a project that began with an exhibition held at Sony Park Mini in Ginza in 2023. The duo's exploration between intention and chance, using both visual (sight) and auditory (sound) elements, produces an evolving installation that includes improvisational bodily movements output in different forms, moving between their (non)synchronization. In response to Kataoka's unique drawing technique, which uses stones, Sakuragi generates sounds from the resulting vibrations, creating a multilayered soundtrack and live performance.

The exhibition, titled 「TONESTONES」after the unit itself, will feature new drawings and sounds developed specifically for the event. The drawings will further explore the distinct method of using ceramic stones, while the soundtrack, loosely inspired by John Cage, will consist of constantly changing layers of sound overlapping within the gallery space.

Additionally, during the exhibition period, there will be a live performance by Kataoka and Sakuragi.
We invite you to experience the evolving artworks and live performances by TONESTONES during this unique exhibition.
