Finished

Artists

Shuzan Hida, Taisei Mizukami, Tamon Yamauchi, Shokin Katsuta, Kyuho Noda et al.
The series of paintings, "Suigo Meguri," painted in 1917 by four Japanese-style painters, Shuzan Hida (1877-1945), Taisei Mizukami (1877-1951), Tamon Yamauchi (1878-1932), and Shokin Katsuta (1879-1963), is based on their travels from the Tone River basin to southern Ibaraki. The artists sketched the area along the way, and each painting is approximately six feet (180 cm) wide and long. The overall effect is a series of works in the style of literati paintings, with the ink depicting mainly the humid atmosphere of Suigo.

This exhibition will be the first time in approximately 100 years that the 31 "Suigo Meguri" works (private collection) that are known to exist today will be exhibited together.
