Tsunetoshi Osafune
At Kanzan Gallery, every December, a special exhibition is held featuring works the gallery would like young artists, who don't typically exhibit in the gallery, to see. As part of this tradition, this year, the gallery will be hosting a solo exhibition by Tsunetoshi Osafune (1943-2009).

Osafune was born in Otaru, Hokkaido, and developed an interest in photography from elementary school. After studying electrical engineering at university, he became a teacher in Shizuoka. Despite falling ill in his mid-20s, he began his expressive activities as a photographer in 1974, even guerrilla exhibiting photos on the walls of underground passages in Fujieda, Shizuoka, where he lived at the time. He later became a member of the photography group "Gig" and actively participated in exhibitions, including solo exhibitions in Shinjuku's Gallery Put, Hirosaki, Naha, and the 1985 "Tsukuba Photo Museum '85." His artistic pursuits expanded into computer art and sculpture.

This exhibition will showcase all 23 pieces from the series "Arumono," photographed in the 1970s and 1980s, which were published in the eponymous photo book in 1991 (Publisher: Frog).
