Finished
During the Edo period, Ukiyo-e emerged as a widely embraced popular culture among the common people. This art form, characterized by its familiarity, friendliness, cuteness, and amusement, was crafted by ordinary artisans like carvers and printers. The Ukiyo-e showcased in this exhibition from the Sakai Collection of the Japan Ukiyo-e Museum represents one of the nation's three largest collections. The exhibition explores the splendor of Ukiyo-e, a "supreme popular culture" originating from and nurtured by the common people of the Edo period.
