Artists

Uro Shinomiya
Uro Shinomiya is a contemporary artist who has continued his practice for over forty years, ever since he first aspired to become a painter in high school. In 1978, he received the Newcomer’s Prize at Genten, and has since gained recognition on international stages including Beijing, Monaco, and Munich.

His distinctive spherical motif, the “Patora Moon,” is an iconic form that has continually evolved throughout his long career—an embodiment of a “crystallization of fluctuation.” In his recent resin-based works in particular, the liquid resin drips from the edges of the panel and hardens exactly as it flows, allowing time itself to materialize in physical form. The resin’s fluidity and transparency generate an expression that transcends conventional painting, creating what could be described as the contour of space—capturing the very moment when dimensions begin to dissolve.

The “Patora Moon” serves as the core through which the invisible presence emerging at the intersection of material, time, and perception is given form, generating spaces that are serene, poetic, and quietly resonant.
