The Matsugamine Catholic Church Cathedral" (Matsugamine, Utsunomiya; designed by Max Hindel) was consecrated in 1932. The Chapel of St. John's Church, Utsunomiya, Anglican Church of Japan (Sakura, Utsunomiya; designed by Keikichi Kamibayashi) was consecrated in 1933. Both are beautiful historical buildings known not only in Utsunomiya but also throughout Japan as modern revival-style buildings made of Oya stone.

This exhibition explores the cathedral and chapel in the context of an invitation to church architecture, two architects and two churches, and contemporariness and contact points with modern architecture.
