Yokohama Doll Museum
Finished

Artists

Nori Doi, Misao Takaghashi, Kishi Omori, Chihiro Kudo, Atelier Yamanami
The kanji for "ningyō," meaning "human form," is complemented by the reading "hitogata" in furigana. This exhibition focuses on the diversity of human forms themselves, exploring the richness of expression born from the variety of hearts and spiritualities that create them, as well as the heterogeneity of bodily shapes. The exhibition attempts to touch upon the ancient, such as Jōmon clay figurines and haniwa, local toys like folk dolls and kokeshi dolls from the collection, as well as modern and contemporary creations including sculptural works, acrylic stands, and depictions of human forms within two-dimensional artworks.
