The Edo period was a time when culture for the common people blossomed. Ukiyo-e, which conveys the vitality of that time to the present, is now attracting attention from all over the world and loved by many. The original meaning of "sad world" (a fleeting and pitiless world) has been reinterpreted to mean the present world, and the hedonistic present, and the lives of townspeople who enjoyed the "now". This exhibition will show how ukiyo-e began, passed through its heyday, and spread to the countryside, including themes from Fukui. Get lost in the stylish, chic, and humorous atmosphere.
