The approximately 1,300 works in the Yokohama Civic Gallery's collection have been acquired since the gallery opened in 1964 for special exhibitions and international exhibitions. This year's exhibition, titled “Scenery That Inspires Artists," will focus on work based on actual landscapes, both domestic and international, with a particular focus on Yokohama.
Three sections-"The Yokohama I Want to Depict: Yamashita/Yamate Area," "The Town as Sketch," and "The Eyes of a Traveler”- will explore the landscapes that are unmistakably Yokohama, as well as everyday street corners and exotic travel destinations through oil paintings, watercolors, drawings, and prints.

In addition, there will be a special exhibition on Masao Miyamoto, a Nihonga artist who painted Yokohama, and two works that were restored through crowdfunding donations (Itoji Mitsuhashi, "View of Church" 1939, and Yoshito Shibata, "May in Yamashita Park" 1969) will be shown for the first time after restoration.

An interview with the artist, Masayoshi Aigasa, recorded in conjunction with the exhibition, will be shown in the exhibition space.
