Yang Bo
Yang Bo, born in Hubei Province, China in 1991, completed his Master's degree in Oil Painting from the Graduate School of Fine Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2019. Currently based in Tokyo, he continues to create artwork focusing on the reception and consumption of pop culture themes. By blending words and images borrowed from rock music-centered music with everyday scenes surrounding him, he creates his unique worldview.

In this exhibition, Yang expands his subjects beyond music to encompass everyday events and objects, showcasing landscape paintings based on his life. The title of the exhibition, a play on the album "Lola Versus Powerman and The Moneygoround, Part One" by the British rock band The Kinks from 1970, connects the motifs of the exhibited works, including "Zamio," "Souvenir-man," and "the Defending Champion." While initially seemingly unrelated, these three motifs are each based on Yang's life experiences and memories, crossing time, distance, and personal experiences in their expression.
