Artists

Yasuko Iba
Since Yasuko Iba began working with oil paintings in the mid-1990s, she has continued to depict motifs that exist in our daily lives, such as glossy vessels and bedding with a sense of materiality.

Iba's works are based on photographs taken by the artist himself. However, they are not limited to realistic reproductions of the world captured through the camera lens, but rather depict sensory "textures" such as the light and air that surrounds the subject. Therefore, the images of his works softly blend the transparency and lightness of photographs with the beautiful colors of the motifs themselves and the delicate light that illuminates them.

Iba has been painting mainly still-life motifs, but in recent years, her interest in motifs has gradually shifted to landscapes and spaces. This exhibition will feature approximately five of her works, including new paintings of landscapes.
