Terry Ellis and Keiko Kitamura opened the store Mogi Folk Art in October 2022. They curate a unique selection of folk art, crafts from various countries and regions, artworks, and both original and vintage clothing, among other items.

Now, Mogi Folk Art is opening its second store, Mogi & Mogi Gallery shop. Located at a new venue, affectionately called Mogi Mogi, this space will host exhibitions focusing on individual artists, allowing customers to engage with the artworks and the artists' thoughts, creating an immersive experience.

The opening exhibition will feature a solo show by ceramic artist Yoko Shiratama (〜2022), who has been active in Mashiko since the 1970s. Ellis and Kitamura, who have been frequenting Mashiko for over 30 years, discovered Yoko Shitara's work, which was known to those in the know, and have been collecting her pieces for the past few years. The exhibition will showcase about 60 pieces, including Shitara's monochrome series, everyday items she made for daily use, and her bold and expressive red-painted series, inspired by her love for drawing since childhood. This exhibition marks the largest-scale solo show of Yoko Shitara's work to date.
