Yonosuke Natori + Ken Domon "In Search of Social Photography"

Ken Domon Museum of Photography
Finished

Artists

Yonosuke Natori, Ken Domon
Ken Domon and Yonosuke Natori are two important figures in the history of photography in Japan, and their relationship has been examined in several ways, but it is the first time that a two-person exhibition has been devoted to their activities. After working as a contract photographer for Urstein, Germany's largest newspaper, Natori was forced to move to Japan in 1933, where Natori founded the Japan Studio with others. As a journalist, Natori sought to realize news photography in Japan that spoke more of society than aesthetics or comfort. And in 1935, Domon Ken began working in news photography under Natori's guidance. Although both agreed and disagreed each other at times, they spent their entire lives exploring social photography.
