Yoshiyuki Umehara
Born in 1997, Yoshiyuki Umehara graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Tama Art University in 2020 and is one of the emerging young artists based in Chiba Prefecture.

Umehara employs a method of layering multiple layers of paint with a painting knife on a primed canvas to create his artworks. The substantial surface of his paintings prompts viewers to recognize the presence of painting as a material. The indistinct boundaries and layers convey the materiality of paint more directly, appealing to us with the allure of raw mass. Moreover, Umehara's statement about "painting faces naturally emerging from objects and landscapes" not only reflects his deep affection and warm gaze toward his subjects but also highlights the uniqueness of his approach to capturing "objects."

This exhibition will showcase and sell 11 of Umehara's latest works.
