Yosuke Yamanouchi
Yosuke Yamanouchi graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of Fine Arts, majoring in oil painting, in 2021, and continues his artistic activities based in Tokyo. While referencing classical paintings, he confronts the history and structure of painting itself, exploring the possibilities of contemporary painting. In this exhibition, he will present new works with the theme of "what" and "how" to paint, at two different venues in Ginza and Kyoto.

At the Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore's "Mind Wandering" exhibition, the focus is on "what" to paint, exploring the images that emerge. The consciousness that gradually diffused from the basic concept of handling drawing materials wanders, and the exhibited works capture unconscious mental landscapes that the artist could not have imagined before. At the Kyoto Tsutaya Bookstore's "Narcissus and Mirror" exhibition, the focus shifts to "how" to paint, presenting works that return the diffused consciousness to its original place by facing reality. Layering paint multiple times, confronting the canvas, and facing oneself, Yosuke Yamanouchi continues to present new painting experiences and the potential of contemporary painting.
