The photographs composing the exhibition "Fragments of the Place 2017-2019" depict the Nagano Prefectural ShinanoArt Museum as their subject. Photographer Yu Shinoda continued to capture images from the time he was invited to the closing exhibition held at the museum in 2017 until the building was dismantled in 2019.

Since its opening in 1966, the Nagano Prefectural Shinano Art Museum, with its distinctive facade and close proximity to Zenkoji Temple, has been cherished by people for its location. What Shinoda focused on at the end of such a place were elements like roofs, windows, heaters, and chairs placed in the exhibition rooms.

Although these elements had supported the museum for many years, they were often overlooked when it came to the dismantling process. Shinoda expressed that he took these photographs to remember these objects as much as possible. The images that persist even after the dismantling are, for Shinoda, invaluable records of resonance with the things that undoubtedly existed in a certain time and place.
