This will be Yuichi Higashionna's third solo exhibition at Calm & Punk Gallery since "FL” was held in 2011.
Higashionna has been creating works for many years based on the idea of the "uncanny" (Sigmund Freud), a sense of discomfort felt in familiar everyday objects. In the past two exhibitions, he has exhibited objects and installations using fluorescent lights, spray-painted paintings, and animations. In this exhibition, Higashionna will present an installation of new drawings inspired by the works of painters who have long interested and fascinated him, LEDs, fabrics, and other heterogeneous materials in a pure white atrium space.
