Yuichi Higashionna Exhibition

The Third Gallery Aya
Finished

Artists

Yuichi Higashionna
This marks Yuichi Higashionna's first solo exhibition since the joint exhibition "Overlap and Interaction" held in 2019.

Higashionna creates paintings and objects with the motif of everyday and commonplace items, especially the "fancy" interiors that were present in every post-war Japanese household. These "fancy" items may be seen as "uncanny" creations born out of a twisted longing for the West, lacking originality. The chandeliers, a representative work, with numerous circular fluorescent lights unique to Japan, emit excessive white light, exuding an intense presence that seems to lay bare everything.

This time, the exhibition will be an installation incorporating various media, and it will be the first attempt using two floors, 2F and 4F. There will also be a dialogue session with the art critic Akira Shimizu.
