Yuki Ito
Drawing from twelve years of teaching experience, Yuki Ito explores the impact of art on teenagers. Despite challenges such as limited class hours and weak interdisciplinary cooperation, Ito advocates for integrating art across curricula and engaging with local communities. The project focuses on documenting the Toyoko neighborhood, where youth gather near TOHO Cinemas in Shinjuku's Kabukicho district. This area, despite its history of tragic incidents involving minors, remains a significant gathering place. Inspired by Tamitsugu Kitagawa's inclusive art education in Mexico, Ito fosters dialogue on "places of memories" to help youth reconnect with their environment in the post-pandemic, emphasizing the role of personal expression in rebuilding social solidarity.
