With a focus on the ordinary signs and objects we find in our daily lives, Matsueda Yuki creates works based on three themes: what would happen if these objects energetically came to life (escape); how they could convey an immediate sense of fascination without eliciting words (wordless); and what would make people happy when they see them (positive).
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Matsueda began creating abstract works and works incorporating artistic elements found in paintings using PET (polyethylene terephthalate), a material he revisited during the period while unable to hold exhibitions, as well as paints.
This exhibition brings together a wide range of Matsueda Yuki’s works, from his masterpieces to his latest abstract pieces.
