Yukiko Oshima
Yukiko Oshima works with large stones that exceed her physique and creates abstract sculptures with curves that are comfortable to the human hand and eye, inviting anyone to touch them. In recent years, she has been working in hotel lounges and other glamorous settings.
Oshima's stone sculptures have been in the limelight for their unique shapes, which add a touch of nature to the massive appeal of stone sculpture.
In this exhibition, Oshima chose komatsu stone as the material for his work, which has a markedly rustic expression, and shaped it with line carving and vivid chisel marks. The solid stone is covered with countless carving marks, which give the impression of the long time Oshima spent talking with the stone, and the warmth of his heart.
