Yulia Skogoreva
This exhibition will feature photographs by Yulia Skogoleva, winner of the Fujifilm Award in the " Kyotographie Internationale Portfolio Review 2023.”

The Kyotographie Internationale Portfolio Review is an opportunity for emerging photographers to present their work at Kyotographie and for Fujifilm to award outstanding work.

In September 2019, the Japan Women's Sumo Federation held its first "Wanpaku Sumo Girls National Tournament" in Tokyo. At this memorable tournament, which gathered female sumo wrestlers from all over Japan in grades 4-6, photographer Yulia Skogoreva met a standout female wrestler, Nana Abe. She was drawn to her passion for sumo and began photographing her.

This exhibition, "Salt and Tears," focuses on the environment surrounding women's sumo and the struggles of women wrestlers through Nana Abe's story.
