Artists

Yumeji Takehisa
The painter Yumeji Takehisa (1884-1934), who was active mainly in the Taisho period (1912-1926), also demonstrated his talent as a graphic designer, leaving behind numerous designs.

This exhibition introduces Takehisa's designs for posters, book bindings, and magazine and sheet music covers. The exhibition focuses on the unique characters expressed in hand lettering and explores the appeal of hand-drawn characters, which are different from those created on a computer.

In addition, through the exhibition of handwritten calligraphy, manuscripts, and private diaries and letters, visitors will be able to enjoy Takehisa's diverse expressions of lettering.
