Kiyomi Kato
This is a memorial exhibition for Kiyomi Kato, who passed away in November 2020. Kato studied under Tetsuro Komai, one of the leading post-war Japanese copperplate artists, and since the 1960s has exhibited prints at the Tokyo International Print Biennale and the Shunyokai. Galerie Tokyo Humanité has been holding exhibitions of copperplate prints and objects since the 1980s. Kato's work begins with a fictional scene, like a stage set. The world on the other side of the stage and the world on this side looking on. A hand suddenly held out, the gentle expression of a woman with downcast eyes, a mirror that reflects nothing. This exhibition will showcase more than 30 of Kiyomi Kato's oil paintings and prints.
