Artists

Chris Jahncke
In this 2nd solo exhibition by Chris Jahncke entitled "Morph", works on paper are featured. These works predate and overlap his Meteorite paintings. Jahncke wends his way around his themes as he concurrently produces works in fragmentary spurts. "Morph" offers insight into his working and thinking process.

Inspired primarily by non-artistic, eyewitness sketches of aliens, elves, kappa, vomiting ghosts, Sasquatches, goblins, gnomes, monsters, demons and other indescribable beasts whose existence is disputable, Jahncke starts from the process of automatic drawing of aliens while circling back to depict ape-men and other assorted junk. Jahncke clearly enjoys making these investigative drawings, probing his way through the human need to connect to something beyond their own interpretations.

Color, sparkles, stars, time, growth, disintegration, reflection... Starting from eyewitness accounts, Jahncke taps into our collective and subconscious desire to connect, classify and create.
