Artists

Hiroko Tsuchida
The work of the outstanding young artist Hiroko Tsuchida (b. 1985) fills the 11-meter-high atrium of the Hiratsuka Museum of Art. The award-winning sculptor’s works are thrice surprising: 1) For their beautiful forms crafted to perfection, 2) For their unconventional use of common items such thermometers, safety pins, and swizzle sticks, and 3) For their emphasis on the conceptual. Breathtaking amounts of time and labor are required to realize these ideas given shape by applying countless individual pieces. Step inside the stunning world of Hiroko Tsuchida’s creativity, an endeavor that might be considered its own search for truth.
