100th Anniversary of the Birth of Sadamasa Motonaga

Mie Prefectural Art Museum

Sadamasa Motonaga
A special exhibition on Sadamasa Motonaga (1922-2011, born in Mie Prefecture) will be held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his birth. Mie Prefectural Art Museum has previously held two exhibitions of Sadamasa Motonaga (in 1991 and 2009) and currently has approximately 70 works in its collection. This year's special exhibition will introduce the full scope of Motonaga's activities, focusing on the museum's collection and, as a new angle, will focus on his relationship with his birthplace, Iga. The exhibition introduces works from the Iga period, when Motonaga began his painting career, as well as works and materials of artists with whom he had relationships in Iga, to explore the origins of the expression of the painter Sadamasa Motonaga.
