Artists

Taisei Sato
Japanese-style painter, Taisei Sato (1913-2004), was born in Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto Prefecture, and lived in Itabashi Ward for sixty years from 1945.

This exhibition, which marks the 110th anniversary of his birth, will focus on the "water" works that Sato painted extensively throughout his life, showing the transition of his works over his 70-year career, his footprints in depicting nature, and the works created through his interpretation of the nature he perceived.

The exhibition also includes a hue chart with over 1,000 colors, which is a sample of all the paints left behind in the artist's studio, to give visitors a closer look at the artist's eye for creating a wide variety of neutral colors.
