16th Omamori-to Exhibition

Hayashibara Museum of Art
Finished
The culture of possessing protective amulet swords to guard against invisible evils, which has been passed down since ancient times, is still thriving today. Japanese swords are crafted by gathering the essence of traditional Japanese arts and crafts such as swordsmithing, sword polishing, woodworking, metalworking, lacquerware, and decorative cords.

This exhibition gathers new work from swordsmiths and sword artisans nationwide, selecting excellent pieces to showcase. This aims not only to improve the traditional techniques related to swords but also to continue the legacy of sword culture. All 12 items in the collection will be unveiled, including sword mounts passed down from the Ikeda family, the feudal lords of Okayama Domain.
