With the cooperation of Giorgio and Isa de Chirico Foundation, Daimaru Museum presents over 110 oil paintings, sketches, and sculptures in the classic realism and neo metafisica styles of Giorgio de Chirico.
Italy's 20th century greatest painter, Giorgio de Chirico (1888-1978) established the style of Pittura Metafisica (metaphysical painting). At his debut at the Salon d'Automne, poet Guillaume Apollinaire called him "the most astonishing painter of the younger generation". The mysterious worlds of memory that he created had great impact on young Surrealists. In the 1920s, de Chirico turned his attention to the Renaissance masters, and took great pains to reproduce their work in his later years. De Chirico kept up his energetic and productive painting habits throughout his life, and started the neo metafisica movement in the 1960s.
