Among these cacti -at most two years old- Frederic saw intriguing shapes: curves that were at once architectural and organic, like the buildings of a living model. It reminded him straight away of Klimt's Tree of life and those strangely cellular, cabbalistic paintings of his. Frederic's images are made up of very precise, almost mechanical patterns that make him want to lose himself in them. Those images have no pretensions to realism: as if the fractal equations modelling them are beyond resolution, they call on us to make a visual plunge into depths -and once there to follow our imagination.
