Tom Benson

An understanding of the self-defining qualities of materials shape Tom Benson’s paintings. They are in essence a calibration between the act of looking, the process of painting and the specifics of the space where they are seen.
Every element is active in the work: the application of paint, its particular hue; the nature of the support it is on, its solidity or pliability; the transition from this to the wall and the real space of the room itself. Both phenomenal and conceptual, they offer a sensory space for our reflection.
This will be Tom Benson's first show in Japan.
