Not many Japanese could point out where Tibet is on a map. Interest for Tibet is low and there are only few essays or historical text books which articulate the situations of Tibet today.
Tibet as a nation state does not exist in a de jure sense. Tibet was stripped of its sovereignty to the People's Republic of China when Tibet lost its political cause for independence in the 1950s.
