Artists

Nishi Masaaki
The dog houses deprived of their long dead occupants are stacked one over another. Large crucibles molded out in contrasting shades of iron and bronze lay side by side. A mobile phone in a bird cage stacked high in the sky awaits a call.
Active worldwide, Nishi Masaaki (1946~) concentrates on integrating in his creation the relation between man and object or, man and nature. Exposing substances such as bronze or iron in air, water or earth, the nature of their existence and the natural transitions of materials are made visible. Nishi's creation centers around his observation of the rhythm of time of these materials which differs to that of man. Another important theme of the artist is in giving shape to human memories, traces of daily life and marks of death, through assemblage of objects surrounding man.
