Yoshihiko Ueda
"At Home" is a solo exhibition of approximately 150 photographic works by Ueda, who has been active at the front line of the commercial world and who makes his works based on his distinctive view of the world.
They consist of beautiful scenes suffused with a sense of sombre transparency, shown in chronological order; it is richly lyrical about the small but continually repeating incidents which construct family life.
Encounters with his wife Karen Kirishima, the birth of their child, his growing-up: this period of transition is documented, moment by moment, in gentle shades of monochrome, and it is as if they are overflowing with the body heat of the people depicted.
The works in this first exhibition of so-called "I-Photography" were all taken with a Leica M, which reflects Ueda's gradual shift from using 8x10 film during his career in the 1980s to 35mm film today.
