Artists

Niki de Saint Phalle
For the first reprospective exhibition in Japan after the death of Niki de Saint Phalle (1930~2002), ninety pieces of 3D works, collages, oil paintings and prints will be displayed. The works are mainly from the collections at Sprengel Museum in Hannover, and Niki Museum in Tochigi Precture, the only venue in the world that consists only of de Saint Phalle works.
Some of her best known works are the huge "Nana" series capturing vivid women, and the water fountain in Pompidou Center in Paris created with her husband, sculpturor Jean Tinguely. She became known around the world in 1961 with the "Shooting Paintings", where her method of splattering paints by shooting ceramic reliefs with a rifle gained much attention.
