20th Century Master Alberto Giacometti with Isaku Yanaihara

Museum of Modern Art, Hayama
Finished

Artists

Alberto Giacometti
Hosted with the Albert and Annette Giacometti Foundation in Paris, this exhibition explores the interaction between Albert Giacometti and his model/record keeper, Japanese philosopher Isaku Yanaihara.
Giacometti (1901―1966) strived to express things as he saw them. As a result, his sculptures depict human bodies as thin as rails, and his paintings portray people quietly emerging from grayish backgrounds.
140 pieces of work and materials will be exhibited to give you a comprehensive overview of one of the greatest minds of the 20th century. Some of the works are unreleased pieces that were discovered in his atelier after his death.
Gallery talks will be held on 6/7, 6/24, and 7/20. A series of related lectures will be held on 6/4, 6/25, 7/1, and 7/22. Please go to the official Japanese homepage for booking information.
