21st "Contemporary Japan's Seven Treasures" Exhibition

The seven treasures are made out of common raw materials such as copper and silver. They recall artworks made of metal that are mounted with with glass and lacquer, known as cloisonné, which features the use of enamel. At the Kourion graves of Myceneae in Greece, six golden rings from the early 13th century and scepters were found on a throne decorated with 11th century materials. Japan also has many artifacts that remain from the Muromachi, Momoyama and Edo periods. This exhibition features the paintings, vases, tea utensils and other crafts by artists represented by the Pola Museum, as well as award winning works from the 20th International Seven Treasures Jewelry Exhibition.
