Artists

Shizu Shimada
Shizu Shimada's works are popular for their rhythmical abstract expressions and unique sense of modeling. She continues to be active energetically to this day, 50 years into her life as an artist.

Born in the Sakhalin Islands, the artist moved to Paris in 1958 where she worked on paintings, lithographs, and etchings for 20 years. Even after returning to Japan, she has continued to take annual trips to Paris to take in the "colors of Paris and the spirit of Western Europe".

In this exhibition, 63 large scale oil paintings from the beginning of her career to the present will be on display.
