Have you experienced the many forms of expression that contemporary dance has to offer? This event is the 3rd presentation in Tokyo of "Fight me now!", a dance performance by Michael Schumacher, who held the solo part at the Frankfurt Ballet Company and has danced for a number of other companies, and Makoto Matsushima, who has danced for the Papa Tarafumara Company and currently dances solo.
"Fight me now!" is a high level improvised jam session of a kind unseen elsewhere in which the two performers "compete" in fifteen 3 minute rounds, using unusual forms of body contact dance and their voices to perform a pure and fluid form of theatrical expression.
The two dancers have been collaborating to perform this project once a year since they met each other by chance three years ago. They held a dance performance together with workshops in Macao last year, to great critical acclaim.
People who are tired of the tedium of the everyday should come to see this performance, otherwise known as "contact improvisation", as they will come away having seen something fresh and unusual.
"Contact Improvisation" is "a form of dance that starts from touch". Taking the laws of physics and balance as the basis for a form of interdependent dance between two bodies, the dance seeks to inspire eye contact and connection with strangers.
