Taizo Yokoyama
This exhibition is held in remembrance of Taizo Yokoyama who passed away at his home in Kamakura on June 10th at the age of 90. Yokoyama is the younger brother of manga artist Ryuichi Yokoyama who authored "Fuku-chan," and is known for his sharply satirical political manga for adult audiences. Illustrations and collages central to Taizo's works chosen by his grandson Kanta Yokoyama will be on display. A special feature based on interviews with Yokoyama family members held in the artist's Kamakura studio will be published in free paper "Root Culture." The artist's avant-garde life as an adult manga artist will be expressed multi-dimensionally through this article. The venue in which Taizo and Ryuichi's works will be exhibited is a Yokoyama family-designed Starbucks Coffee shop adjacent to "Gallery Yoko" that stands on the grounds of the Yokohama House.
